Abstract
ÀÌ ½ÇÇèÀû ¿¬±¸´Â Á÷·ù Àü·ù ÀÚ±Ø(direct electrical current stimulation, DECS)À» ¹é¼ÀÇ È®ÀåµÈ Àü»ó¾Ç°ñ°£ ºÀÇÕ¿¡ °¡ÇÏ¿´À» ½Ã °ñ Àç»ý¿¡ ¹ÌÄ¡´Â ¿µÇâÀ» Æò°¡Çϱâ À§ÇØ ½ÃÇàµÇ¾ú´Ù. 60¸¶¸®ÀÇ ¿õ¼º Wistar rats¸¦ ¿¬±¸¿¡ »ç¿ëÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç ´ëÁ¶±º°ú ½ÇÇ豺ÀÇ 2°³ÀÇ ±ºÀ¸·Î ³ª´©¾ú´Ù. »ó¾Ç ÀýÄ¡ »çÀÌ¿¡ 30-gramÀÇ ÈûÀ» ¹ßÈÖÇÏ´Â helical-springÀ» Àû¿ëÇÏ¿© »ó¾Ç°ñÀÇ È®ÀåÀ» µÎ ±º ¸ðµÎ¿¡¼ ½ÃÇàÇÏ¿´´Ù. ½ÇÇ豺¿¡¼´Â »ó¾Ç°ñ Ãø¸éºÎ¿¡ ±Ý¼Ó ½ºÅ©·ù¸¦ ½Ä¸³ÇÏ¿´°í ½ºÅ©·ù¿¡ Àü±ØÀ» ¿¬°áÇÏ¿´´Ù. ÀåÄ¡´Â Áö¼ÓÀûÀ¸·Î 10¥ìAÀÇ Àü·ù¸¦ Èê·¯ º¸³»µµ·Ï Á¶ÀýÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç Àü·ù´Â È®Àå±â¿Í Ãʱâ À¯Áö±â µ¿¾È ¸ÅÀÏ Á¡°ËÇÏ¿´´Ù. °ñ Àç»ýÀ» Á¶Á÷ÇüÅ°èÃøÇÐÀûÀ¸·Î Æò°¡Çϱâ À§ÇØ ½Å»ý°ñ ¸éÀû(¥ìm2), °ñ µÑ·¹±æÀÌ(¥ìm), feret¡¯s diameter (¥ìm) ¿Í ½Å»ý°ñ(%)À» °èÃøÇÏ¿´´Ù. °á°ú´Â À¯ÀǼöÁØ p £¼ 0.05¿¡¼ Kruskal-Wallis rank¿Í Mann-Whitney U tests¸¦ ÀÌ¿ëÇÏ¿© Åë°è ºÐ¼®ÇÏ¿´´Ù. ½ÇÇè °á°ú Á¶»çÇÑ ¸ðµç Á¶Á÷ÇüÅ°èÃøÀû ¼öÄ¡µé¿¡¼ Åë°èÀûÀ¸·Î À¯ÀÇÇÑ Â÷ÀÌ°¡ ¾ç ±º »çÀÌ¿¡¼ ³ªÅ¸³µ´Ù. ½Å»ý°ñ ¸éÀû (p = 0.002), °ñ µÑ·¹±æÀÌ (p = 0.002), feret¡¯s diameter (p = 0.002)¿Í ½Å»ý°ñ ºñÀ² (p = 0.002)ÀÇ ¸ðµç °èÃøÄ¡°¡ ½ÇÇ豺¿¡¼ ´ëÁ¶±º¿¡ ºñÇØ ³ô°Ô ³ªÅ¸³µ´Ù. ÀÌ·± °á°ú´Â DECS ±º¿¡¼ °ñ Çü¼ºÀÌ ´õ ¾çÈ£ÇÔÀ» ÀǹÌÇÑ´Ù. °á·ÐÀûÀ¸·Î ¾ÇÁ¤ÇüÀûÀ¸·Î È®Àå½ÃŲ Àü»ó¾Ç°ñ ºÀÇպο¡ DECS¸¦ Àû¿ëÇϸé Ãʱâ À¯Áö ±â°£ Áß¿¡ ½Å»ý°ñ Çü¼ºÀÌ ÃËÁøµÈ´Ù°í ÇÒ ¼öÀÖ´Ù.
Objective: The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate the effects of direct electrical current stimulation (DECS) on bone regeneration in response to an expansion of the inter-premaxillary suture in the rat.
Methods: Sixteen 50 - 60 days old Wistar male rats were separated into two equal groups (control and experimental). Both groups were subjected to expansion, and 30-gram of force was applied to the maxillary incisors with helical-spring. In the experimental group, two metallic-screws were placed at lateral parts of the maxillary segments. Electrodes were connected to the screws. The device was activated with current adjustment to measure 10 ¥ìA continuously and the current was monitored daily during the expansion and early-retention phase. Bone regeneration in the sutural area was histomorphometrically evaluated including new-bone area (¥ìm2), bone perimeter (¥ìm), feret¡¯s diameter (¥ìm) and newly formed bone (%) parameters. Kruskal-Wallis rank and Mann-Whitney U tests were used for statistical evaluation at p < 0.05 level.
Results: Statistical analysis showed significant differences between groups for all investigated histomorphometric parameters. New bone area (p = 0.002), bone perimeter (p = 0.004), feret¡¯s diameter (p = 0.002) and newly formed bone percentage (p = 0.002) measurements were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. Bone histomorphometric measurements revealed that bone architecture in the DECS group was improved.
Conclusions: The application of DECS to an orthopedically expanded inter-premaxillary suture area during the early retention phase stimulated the formation of new bone.
